Get down to ground level at North River—there's a whole world happening beneath your feet.
In this homeschool program, young naturalists head outside with their caregiver to explore the biology of fungi, mosses, and the small organisms that keep the forest floor working. From the role of decomposers in recycling fallen leaves to the networks that connect trees underground, discover forest ecology through close observation.
Guided outdoor investigation and a trail walk bring these concepts to life, with small group sizes allowing plenty of time to stop, look closely, and ask questions. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.
