Owls of Massachusetts: Behavior, Habitats, & Conservation

Description

What makes an owl an owl? Owls have unique behaviors, physiology, and adaptations for navigating and hunting in their nocturnal world. Learn about barred owls' aquatic hunting skills, why screech owls breed late in winter, and how short-eared owls rely on their hearing as they approach their prey. New research and population monitoring projects are helping scientists unravel some long-held mysteries about owls. We’ll cover the best times, locations, and methods for observing owls.

This standalone session is part of the online Owls of Massachusetts series. Register for the full series before Jan. 20 and get the three sessions (Jan. 20: Owl Behavior, Habitats, and Conservation, Feb. 3: Meet the Owls of Massachusetts, Feb. 17: Owl Research and a Visiting Owl) at a discounted price.
