Description
The 'mighty oak' trees are an essential component of the New England landscape. These trees sequester more carbon than most other tree species, their decaying leaves provide excellent leaf litter, and they are hosts to over 300 species of caterpillars, who in turn support the terrestrial food web. Meet the large oak family in the northeast and investigate the ecological role that oak trees play, including how they help mitigate climate change.
