Freshwater Wetlands 101: Keystone Wildlife Species

Description

Massachusetts wetlands support a rich diversity of wildlife, both seasonally and year-round. Meet local wildlife species that play a critical role in their ecosystem, including how their unique adaptations and relationships impact their surroundings. We'll feature Beavers, American Eels, Herring, Cattails, Swamp Milkweed, Asters, and more. From the ponds built with the engineering prowess of Beavers, the habitat forming and food production qualities of Cattails, or the historically super abundant populations of American Eels, you will come away with an accelerated appreciation of these keystone wetland species.

This standalone program is part of the 4-session online Freshwater Wetlands 101 Series. Register for the full series before it starts on 10/2/25 to get all 4 sessions (10/2 Massachusetts Wetland Habitats; 10/16 Keystone Wildlife Species; 10/30 Ecological Restoration; 11/13 Protecting Local Wetlands) for the price of 3. Recordings will be sent to registrants after each program.
