Description
The mosaic of freshwater wetlands in Massachusetts includes rivers, marshes, vernal pools, streams, ponds, lakes, and more. Learn what characteristics and dynamics make each type of wetland unique, valuable, and vulnerable. We'll wade into the shallow vernal pools that offer seasonal breeding habitats for wood frogs, salamanders, and invertebrates, and explore our state's ever-changing rivers and streams. Dive into the field of limnology, the study of the biological, chemical, and physical features of lakes and other bodies of fresh water.
