Description
The island of Martha's Vineyard lies only 5 miles south of Woods Hole on Cape Cod and boasts a bird list of approximately 300 species. The island’s varied habitats offer high bluffs for viewing seabirds, numerous ponds and bays for waterfowl and wading birds, vast fields and thickets for songbirds, and a state forest for owls. We will explore all these and more to experience a variety of birdlife.
The timing of this trip is geared to witness early spring migration, including sea ducks off Aquinnah, shorebirds on Chappaquiddick Island, and songbirds buried in thickets. It’s possible we will see as many as 100 species, including Barn Owl, Eastern Screech-Owl, and, hopefully, several surprise species.
