Description
This series offers a mix of seasonal and evergreen insights to bolster the knowledge and skills of birdwatchers of all levels. Learn how climate change is affecting local bird species and what actions and solutions can help support local and global populations. Discover why 'regular rarities' and 'mega-rarities' sometimes end up here unexpectedly each fall. Build your field skills with tree identification basics and make connections between tree species, seasonal changes, and the birds that frequent them. A session on ducks, easily observable in fall, will highlight adaptations, behaviors, plumage, and our cultural connections to them. Finally, meet the wild turkey, once common in Massachusetts, then overhunted, and now back to thriving in cities, suburbs, and rural areas.
Each Autumn Avians session stands alone, but if you register for the full series before it starts on September 25, 2025, you get all 5 sessions listed below for the price of 4.
Sept. 25: Birds and Climate Change
Oct. 9: Fall Rarities
