Advanced Bird Photography: Warblers

Learn to photograph warblers in their colorful breeding plumage during the peak of their migration. Each week will include assignments to practice skills and strategies covered that week, and time to share three images with the group for constructive feedback and reflection. Student work will be used to demonstrate post-processing techniques, including integration of the digital flow including processing and editing images using a raw converter such as Adobe Lightroom for publishing or printing.

Course Requirements:

This course is open to students who have taken previous Mass Audubon Bird Photography Series with the instructor, as well as interested students that can provide a portfolio for instructor consideration. If you are interested and have not previously taken a Mass Audubon photography program, please contact [email protected] about having your portfolio reviewed. The instructor will want to see your best 5 static images of small birds as well as 5 in-flight images of medium-sized birds to demonstrate your skillset.

DSLR and Mirrorless cameras with a 300 mm telephoto lens are the minimum; longer lenses are preferred. Students need to be familiar with camera setup for bird photography (static and in flight) and have experience on how/when to use few or many points of focus.
