Description
Since 1981, Mass Audubon's Norman Smith has spent countless days and nights in every imaginable weather condition observing, capturing, banding, and relocating Snowy Owls at Logan International Airport. Along the way, he has gathered data on how these owls roost, hunt, and behave on their wintering grounds. In 2000, the addition of satellite transmitters at the airport opened a new view of where the owls travel.
Hear directly from Norman about his work with Snowy Owls at Logan Airport. Discover what the work has revealed, what questions remain, and how it grew to include research on Saw-whet Owls.
This program is part of the online Owls of Massachusetts Series. Each session stands alone, but if you register for the series before it begins, you get all four sessions for the price of three.
