Description
Bogs and fungi are two of New England's most otherworldly natural subjects, and fall is the perfect time to explore both. Discover what makes Massachusetts bogs so rare and remarkable, from their quaking mats and carnivorous plants to the extreme chemistry that sets them apart from any other wetland.
You will also learn about fungi, as we explore the biology of mushrooms and mycelium, the ecological roles they play in the forest, and how to start recognizing common fall species in the field.
This program is part of the Fall Phenomena Online Series. Each session stands alone, but if you register for the whole series before it starts on October 8, you get all five sessions for the price of four. Other session topics include woolly bears, beavers, the night sky and more.
Recordings will be sent to registrants after the program.
