Description
Winter brings a spectacular diversity of waterfowl to Massachusetts, and you can prepare to get out into the field with some key information. Get to know the more than 25 species of ducks, geese, loons, grebes, and alcids that winter in New England, learning to distinguish them by plumage, structure, behavior, and habitat preference.
Along the way, explore these birds' life histories, from where they like to breed to migration routes and wintering areas, and learn what makes certain coastal and inland spots so productive for winter waterfowl watching.
This program is part of the Autumn Birding Online Series. Each session stands alone, but if you register for the whole series before it starts on October 13, you get all five sessions for the price of four. Other session topics include winter flocking, fall warblers, sparrow ID and more.
Recordings will be sent to registrants after the program.
