Ocean State Winter Weekend

Description

With 40 miles of coastline, Rhode Island is a wonderful location for winter birdwatching. A variety of seabirds can be found swimming and feeding in bays and coastal ponds. The mild coastal climate typically prevents freezing, keeping freshwater wetlands open for dabbling ducks and songbirds. We'll spend a majority of our time exploring the Aquidneck and Jamestown areas searching for all things with feathers. As the sun sets Saturday evening, we'll scan the skies for Short-eared Owls as they drift over the marsh looking for prey.
