Southern New Hampshire Fall Birding Weekend
Description
The Connecticut River Valley (CTRV) is a major migratory flight path for species making their way south through Vermont and New Hampshire during fall migration. In addition to experiencing hawk migration atop Pack Monadnock at Miller State Park, less conspicuous migrants including warblers, sparrows, and marsh birds are moving steadily south, hopscotching along the many habitats in the CTRV. We will explore the river valley as well as several migratory hotspots in the southwestern New Hampshire area to see what jewels of migration we can uncover. It is also peak fall foliage season, and the woodlands will be bursting with color.
Expected highlights include Northern Harrier, Red-shouldered Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Bald Eagle, Common Raven, Wood Duck, Common and Barrow's goldeneye, Pied-billed Grebe, Blue-headed Vireo, Blackpoll Warbler, Common Nighthawk, and more.
