Nature of Massachusetts: Summer Night Sounds

Description

Summer evenings are accompanied by a natural soundscape that changes with the season, peaking in late summer. In this session, discover the creatures making all that racket, why and how they are calling out, and who is listening. You will explore sound production and the specialized anatomy it requires, along with the unique behaviors of sound-producing insects. Learn to differentiate and recognize common night sounds and find out when you're most likely to hear them.

Each Nature of Massachusetts session stands alone, but if you register for the full series before it starts on April 16, you get all 6 sessions for the price of 5. Recordings will be sent to registrants after each program.
