Description
As temperatures drop, many plants are quietly putting their energy underground, storing it in their roots to survive the winter. On this guided walk, you'll learn to identify common plants like Curly Dock and Dandelion and explore the centuries-long history of using roots as medicine and nourishment.
Back at the Nature Center, try your hand at the traditional art of preserving plant medicine in liquid form by making an herbal tincture. By weaving together ecology, cultural knowledge, and observation, you'll learn new ways to connect with the natural world.
Please note that collecting plants on DCR properties is not generally permitted. This is a special opportunity for our group to carefully gather some wild plants under the guidance of a naturalist.
