Fall Foraging for Herbal Tea

Description

By late September, many plants are giving everything they have—seeds are ripening, fruits are ready, and the harvest season is at its peak. On this foraging walk, you'll learn to identify wild edible plants including seeds, fruits, and leaves growing in and around the park, with a focus on their ecological roles and their long histories of nourishing people around the world.

After the walk, we'll make and share herbal tea from carefully gathered plants. This program explores how building a relationship with the natural world can support health and a deeper sense of place, as well as responsible foraging practices.

Please note that collecting plants on DCR properties is not generally permitted. This is a special opportunity for our group to carefully gather some wild plants under the guidance of a naturalist.
