Description
The fields and riverside of Magazine Beach Park have been a source of medicine and meaning since long before the park existed. On this afternoon walk, you'll learn to identify plants that bloom in the summer like goldenrod, mugwort, and evening primrose. A naturalist will guide you as you explore both their ecological roles and how communities near and far have used them for centuries.
After the walk, we'll make a simple herbal remedy to try from carefully-gathered plants. This program explores how building a relationship with the natural world can support health and a deeper sense of place, as well as responsible foraging practices.
Please note that collecting plants on DCR properties is not generally permitted. This is a special opportunity for our group to carefully gather some wild plants under the guidance of a naturalist.
