Description
No car? No problem! Escape into nature in the heart of the city as we explore some of Boston's best green spaces accessible by public transit. Take a walk through the iconic Boston Commons and Public Garden to look for signs of spring like emerging buds on historic American elms, early blooms, and migratory birds stopping over on their way north. Along the way, we'll see how city plants respond to the urban heat island effect and why spring often arrives earlier downtown.
This program encourages participants to see public transportation as a pathway to discovery and to develop a deeper sense of belonging with the environments we pass by every day.
