The Secret Lives of Migratory Birds and Spring Wildlife - Nature Walk

Description

This scenic afternoon walk offers a perfect opportunity to connect with nature and enhance your outdoor skills. With moderate terrain and a wealth of discovery, this afternoon walk invites you to learn about the fascinating ecology of migratory birds, like the Ovenbird and Tree Swallow, nesting habits of Great Horned Owls and Eastern Bluebirds, and so much more.

Highlights of the walk include:

  • Insights into the lives of the sanctuary's nesting Great Horned Owls, who have successfully raised eight owlets over the past two years.
  • Tips for spotting and listening for migratory birds and other wildlife during the spring.
  • Insight into the ecology of vernal pools and their resident animals, like the wood frog, spotted salamander, and many different invertebrates who live in the pool during the summer.
  • Practical guidance on spring botany, helping you recognize plants, shrubs, and trees as they leaf out in spring.

This program is offered in conjunction with a morning nature journaling class focused on migratory birds and their field markings. Please register separately for each session.
