Description
Each spring, male American Woodcocks take to the air to perform one of the strangest courtship displays in the bird world.
Celebrate the spring equinox by heading out with a Mass Audubon naturalist as the light drops, listening for the buzzy peent call from the ground and then watching for the spiraling flight that answers it. As the sanctuary settles into darkness, take in the many other sights and sounds of the sanctuary's open fields and woodland edges.
Your guide knows where the birds display and what to listen for, though wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
