Description
See Barnstable Harbor and Sandy Neck from a new point of view: the seat of a kayak. Paddle into the harbor with an experienced naturalist while scanning for Osprey, herons, egrets, willets, American Oystercatchers, and other coastal wildlife.
The trip also highlights horseshoe crabs and Mass Audubon's work to protect these living fossils, with the chance to support conservation science through tagging when conditions allow. Because currents and wind can be strong, this program is best for participants with recent paddling experience who are comfortable spending extended time on the water.

Instructions
This trip meets and leaves from Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary. Arrive 10 minutes early; ending times are approximate and may run long due to tide, wind, and group experience level. Mass Audubon provides boats, paddles, life jackets (required), and small dry bags. Tandem kayaks are strongly recommended due to the open-water conditions and strong currents. Participants may bring their own kayak. Bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, a windbreaker, and a snack; there are no restrooms or water fountains during the trip.
