Birding by Ear

Description

Learn how, why, and which birds are singing. Get to know vocalizations, differences between songs and calls, and how to decipher what you hear.

Our pace will be slow to take in the sights and sounds of birds along the All Persons Trail. The trail covers a 0.36-mile loop trail that explores five habitat types including field, tidal flats, salt marsh, forest, and freshwater pond. The trail is surfaced with well-packed crushed stone and has six benches for periodic rest stops. The trail is largely flat and welcoming to wheelchair and other mobility aids. Additionally, a navigational post-and-rope guide system and braille signage encompasses a large section of this loop trail. Nine enrichment stops with tactile displays are planned to offer a chance to learn more about the natural history of the sanctuary. We will begin and end at the Discovery Center.
