Description
Southern Maine has the perfect blend of saltmarsh, maritime forest, and sandy beaches to look for shorebirds, songbirds and birds of prey which are all on the move. We'll start the day in the coves and marshes at Biddeford Pool, and work our way south visiting a variety of coastal locations. Each fall, migratory species can be observed feeding busily while on their way to wintering grounds in Central and South America. We'll also keep an eye to the sky for migrating birds of prey such as Broad-winged Hawks, Ospreys, and Bald Eagles. Location, topographic features, and visibility all combine to make Southern Maine an ideal location for birdwatching.
