Description
The Northern Saw-whet Owl moves through Massachusetts every fall in remarkable numbers, yet almost no one ever sees one. On this evening program at Bradley Palmer State Park, you'll have a rare chance to watch researchers actively study these secretive migrants up close through a live banding demonstration.
Learn how biologists trap, examine, and safely release saw-whet owls as part of ongoing migration research. And discover how data collected at banding stations across the continent helps scientists track the full-cycle lives of these extraordinary birds. Banding is weather and migration dependent, which means each visit is unpredictable.
