North Shore Explorers: A Family Nature Series
Description
Five sessions. Five completely different sides of the North Shore. This family series brings kids and their caregivers right in the middle of salt marshes, tidepools, coastal beaches, and behind the scenes from Newburyport to southern New Hampshire.
Visit Joppa Flats' bird banding station to see migrating songbirds weighed, measured, and released. Explore a life in a tidepool under the light of the full moon. Walk along the coastal dunes on a sandy beach and design a model that shows how to slow erosion on Plum Island. Identify and count crab species in the intertidal zone. Tour behind the scenes at the Seacoast Science Center. Each session builds on the last, giving families a full picture of the diverse ecosystems and conservation challenges of this remarkable stretch of coast.
