Description
Some places earn their reputation, and this day trip to an island just off the historic Massachusetts coast is one of them. A 30-minute narrated cruise gets you there, and once ashore, the day is dedicated to exploration: birding the island's varied trails through maritime cedar forest and along rocky shorelines, receiving a private guided history tour from one of the island's volunteer caretaker, and combing the beach for sea shells, egg cases, sea glass, and more.
The island offers well-marked trails ranging from coastal to forest, and the views from its overlooks are worth every step.
