Description
Owls have held human imagination for centuries, with their silent flight, forward-facing eyes, and calls that carry a long way in the dark. Winter is the best time to find them, when courting pairs answer each other across woodlands.
On this evening walk, hike the sanctuary trails under the night sky, learning the calls of Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, Northern Saw-whet Owls, and Eastern Screech-Owls. Learn how these birds hunt and raise young and how people can help support owl populations.

Plan on walking a mile or more over uneven terrain in the dark, at a pace that leaves time for listening. Dress for cold night temperatures and wear footwear with good traction. The program takes place entirely outdoors. Bring binoculars.
