Great Blue Herons: Winter Homeschool

Description

What would you do if you got lost in the woods in winter? Over six Wednesday mornings, students ages 9 to 12 work out real answers: how to stay warm, find safe water, stay fed, and get found.

Each class takes on a different outdoor skill, from building shelters and filtering water to striking a fire with flint and steel and setting trail cameras to see which mammals move through unseen.

By February, your student will have a set of cold-weather skills and a much stronger sense of why wild places are worth protecting.

What To Expect

This is a drop-off program for students ages 9 to 12. A Youth Health History form is required and will be sent with your welcome email.

Expect longer hikes than the younger homeschool groups, with time outdoors at every session, so dress in warm layers and wear sturdy, waterproof footwear. More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
