Description
It's never too early to start planning for spring! Get a head start this fall by learning how to design a native butterfly garden with guidance from environmental garden designer Catherine Carney-Feldman.
During this workshop, you'll explore the life stages of butterflies, learn which native plants are most essential for hosting and supporting them, and sketch out your own garden layout to take home. Graph paper, design examples, and lists of the most valuable native plants for butterfly habitat are all provided.
Whether you're working with a small city plot or a sprawling yard, you'll leave with a clear, actionable plan for creating a garden that supports butterflies and the broader ecosystem around your home.

This indoor program is held in the Carol Decker Nature Classroom, which is accessible and located next to the visitor center. Graph paper and native plant lists will be provided. Please bring pens or pencils and, if available, information about your garden's sun exposure.
