In Search of Turtles: A Summer Family Walk

Description

Summertime is prime turtle season at Ipswich River, and this walk takes you straight to the best spots. Go on a half-mile adventure through the sanctuary to areas turtles love to frequent, giving you the chance to observe them up close. Chances are good to spot here Painted Turtles basking in the sun, and you may even spot the legendary resident Snapping Turtle, Godzilla, at the Rockery.

Along the way, you'll touch real turtle shells, explore turtle habitats, and learn how Mass Audubon is working to protect endangered turtle species here in Massachusetts. Sanctuary admission is included for the rest of the day, so bring a picnic and keep exploring after the program.
