Description
Late summer fields are alive with butterflies, and this program teaches you how to make sense of what's flying. After a brief indoor presentation covering the five families of butterflies and key identification techniques, you'll then head out onto the sanctuary's fields to put those skills to work.
Monarchs, swallowtails, skippers, whites, and more are all potential finds as you search the blooming meadows at a relaxed pace. Along the way, you'll learn why pollinators like butterflies are so essential to the health of the natural communities that thrive here at Ipswich River and beyond.
