Description
Nine bat species live in Massachusetts, and five of them are endangered. This evening walk gives participants a rare chance to encounter these animals up close and learn what makes them so essential to the ecosystems around us.
Using the Echo Meter, an acoustic monitoring device created by Wildlife Acoustics that picks up bats' ultrasonic calls in real time, the group will walk the sanctuary and identify species overhead by their calls alone.
Along the way, learn why migratory bats are particularly active in Massachusetts this time of year and what communities can do to support bat populations in their own neighborhoods.
