Homeschool Spring: Great Blue Heron Class (Ages 9-12)
Description
Great Blue Herons are deep observers, fast movers, and are vital to their habitat. In addition to learning basic ecology while nurturing an appreciation for the natural world, this group will hike farther, learn more complex natural history concepts, and do more challenging projects than younger homeschool students.
This season, explore the many different ecosystems of the sanctuary from fields to forests to wetlands. How are these wild places the same or different? What plants and animals are waiting to be found in each? Through hikes to our vernal pool, stone bridge, and canoe landing; we will make scientific observations of animals and collect real world data. We will also investigate the cycles and connections that these places share and what makes them so wonderfully unique.
This spring, they will also be writing a Homeschool 'newsletter' that will be sent out to parents after completion.
* If needed, we will have a make-up class on June 10.
