Making Soap from Invasive Plants

Learn how to turn a common invasive plant into something useful, practical, and perfect for a holiday-season gift. Head out on the trails to look for and identify invasive plants like Multiflora Rose, whose rosehips turn out to make beautiful, sweet-smelling soap. Explore the intersection of plant knowledge, environmental awareness, and craft while gathering botanicals to take back to the education center.

Then, learn about the medicinal properties of the plants used in the soap-making process while you concoct your own plastic-free, plant-based soaps to give as gifts (or keep for yourself).

Please note that collecting plants outside of our community gardens is not generally permitted. This is a special opportunity for our group to carefully gather some wild plants under the guidance of a naturalist.
