Description
Get together with fellow teen nature enthusiasts to explore the diverse habitats of Dunback Meadow in Lexington. A unique mix of open fields, forest edges, and marshy wetlands come together to create a hotspot for bird activity. Nearly 200 bird species have been spotted here, including many breeding residents.
We'll walk about 2 miles on mostly flat dirt trails and grassy paths, through open meadows and shaded woods. Along the way, we'll listen for the distinctive calls of Red-breasted Nuthatch and Winter Wren and keep an eye out for wintering guests like Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Purple Finch, perhaps even an owl or shrike!
This outing is a great chance to practice bird identification skills, enjoy the natural beauty of Dunback Meadow, and connect with other teen birders in a relaxed, supportive setting.
