Description
Discover the hidden birding gems of the South Coast where Massachusetts and Rhode Island meet. Tucked in a unique location of the bay, the Westport and Fairhaven areas' mild climate, extensive farm fields abutting the ocean, and expansive wetlands create a haven for wintering birds.
Explore a rich mix of habitats, from brushy thickets and windswept fields to ponds and tidal shores. Search for sparrows and Eastern Meadowlarks in open fields, scan Cockeast Pond for diving ducks, watch for Bald Eagles along the Westport River, and comb the shores of West Island for shorebirds. Between outings, warm up and refuel with lunch at a cozy local restaurant (lunch not included in program fee).
