Teen Birders: Migration Watch at Horn Pond

Description

Our annual teen birding trip to Horn Pond is a beloved tradition! Join fellow teen birders for a day of discovery as we explore this diverse natural area, home to shaded woodlands, wetlands, and open water. These rich habitats support a wide variety of bird species, making Horn Pond a top destination during spring and fall migration.

We'll walk 2-3 miles on mainly flat, well-maintained trails at a relaxed pace, with plenty of breaks to observe migrating warblers, sparrows, wading birds, waterfowl, and maybe even an owl. Each year, this trip brings exciting surprises. Horn Pond is known for rare bird sightings and a diversity of species. Last year's highlights included Spotted Sandpipers, Ring-necked Ducks, Indigo Buntings, and a rare Connecticut Warbler!

Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch, share sightings, and enjoy the camaraderie of birding together.
