Description
Straight from the hive to the bottle! Learn how to make mead, a wine made from honey with ancient origins, in this hands-on workshop with Drumlin Farm's Beekeeper, Mel Gadd. Visit Drumlin Farm’s beehives to see where it all starts as we cover the history of this fascinating beverage and ingredient selection. Taste a variety of honey and mead samples, then make your own bottle from scratch to bring back with you using honey from our hives. Mel will provide instructions on how to continue the process at home, as mead takes several weeks to fully ferment.
Mel Gadd is Mass Audubon’s Beekeeper who has been involved in the Essex County Beekeepers Association (ECBA) for over 16 years.
