Description
Drumlin Farm is home to over 40 species of edible wild plants, many of which are more nutritious and flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. These include native species like Black Walnuts and Black Raspberry, non-native weeds like Burdock and Chicory, and invasive species like Autumn Olive and Dame's Rocket. Walk through the sanctuary with Russ Cohen, author of the book Wild Plants I Have Known...and Eaten, to find and learn about edible wild plants. Identification keys for each species will be provided, along with info on what parts of the plant are edible, seasons of availability, preparation methods, and guidelines for safe, ethical, and environmentally-responsible foraging.
Russ Cohen is a naturalist and author who has recently completed his 51st year of leading walks and talks about wild edibles.
We will not harvest anything on this walk.
