Description
Curious about keeping bees in your own backyard? In this five-session series, you'll explore the foundations of backyard beekeeping. Dive into bee biology and the history of beekeeping, plus the ins and outs of choosing a hive location, acquiring bees, and managing your colony throughout the season. You'll gain practical knowledge, learn about resources for new beekeepers, and get a closer look at the important role honeybees play in agriculture and pollination. Whether you're dreaming of harvesting your own honey or simply want to better understand these remarkable insects, this series will help you take the first steps.
We will also be offering supplemental 'Bees in the Field' classes (dates and times TBD) for an additional fee. These classes will take place at our beehives and give you the chance to put your new knowledge to work in the field.
Also open to ages 12 or older accompanied by an adult.
