Description
Tucked along Massachusetts' South Coast, the Westport and Fairhaven area has become one of the state's most exciting winter birding destinations. The combination of milder coastal temperatures, expansive farm fields, wetlands, and ocean creates an exceptional range of habitats that support a wide variety of wintering species.
Explore thickets for Yellow-breasted Chats, scan the fields for Eastern Meadowlarks and sparrows, find ducks on Cockeast Pond, watch for Bald Eagles along the Westport River, and check West Island for lingering shorebirds. We'll visit several locations throughout the day, warming up midday with lunch at a local heated restaurant.

Instructions
We will meet at Drumlin Farm's Environmental Learning Center at 7:00 AM and travel together by van. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early. Drop-off will be at the same location at 5:00 PM. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.
We will be walking approximately 2-3 miles with many stops. Bring your own optics or let us know in advance if you would like to borrow binoculars. Several large spotting scopes will be available. We will stop for lunch at a local spot (not included in the fee). Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch.
