Description
Take part in a bird banding demonstration at the West Hill Dam in Uxbridge. Using mist netting, we will attempt to temporarily capture a wide variety of species, from finches to warblers and more. You'll see these amazing birds up close, watch the banding process, and learn field ID skills. Strickland Wheelock, a certified bird-bander, will be banding the birds and recording their health, age, and where the bird has been if previously banded—you may even get the chance to release a bird yourself! After the demonstration, we'll bird around this protected biodiversity hotspot, as well as other locations in Arlington, Cohasset, and Stow, to look for spring arrivals.
Also open to participants aged 14 and older accompanied by an adult.
