A Nature Year at Drumlin Farm and Broadmoor
Description
Immerse yourself in a full year of local natural history. With a skilled Mass Audubon naturalist as your guide, experience the cycle of the seasons at Drumlin Farm and Broadmoor and gain extensive natural history knowledge-all while receiving the many benefits of spending time outdoors. Each month, you will focus on a special topic, natural community, or seasonal phenomenon. In autumn, learn about fall wildflowers, beavers, and oak trees. As the temperatures drop, explore how the landscape was shaped by glaciers, the resident coyote and fox, winter insects, and tracks and signs of wildlife. During spring, focus on maple sugaring, vernal pools, and early spring leaves and flowers. Finally, spend the summer delving into the world of herps (amphibians and reptiles) including frog sounds, arachnids (spiders), and butterflies and moths.
Make the most of your relationship with nature-join today.
12 sessions, 2 hours each
Third Friday of each month, September 2025-August 2026.
Usual time will be 10 am-noon, there will be two evenings, one in October and one in June.
We will usually start inside with an introduction and then head out for our adventure in the field which will be at least 90 minutes outside. We'll travel mainly on trails and boardwalks, actively exploring and experiencing various habitats and sanctuary spots.
