Description
In early spring, American Woodcocks make their way to field edges to court, filling the last hours of daylight with spectacular aerial displays. Head out into the fields just after sunset to try to catch a glimpse of this remarkable performance. Listen for their unusual call and get a chance to watch as they rocket up 100 feet or more, then zigzag back to earth. Along the way, learn what unique convergence of landscape features makes this all possible, and keep an eye out for other creatures that are active at dusk like beavers and owls.
