Description
Discover one of nature's most amazing aerial performers, the American Woodcock. In early spring, these birds gather at field edges to court, filling the fading light just after sunset with spectacular displays in the sky.
Take a guided stroll around the sanctuary at dusk to try to catch a glimpse of the performance. Listen for their unusual call and get the chance to watch as they rocket up 100 feet or more, then zigzag back to earth. Along the way, keep your eyes and ears open for other nighttime neighbors like beavers and owls.
