Lichens in the Field

Description

As leafy plants go dormant in the winter, lichens take center stage. Explore the often-overlooked world of lichens that grow on bark, logs, soil, and rocks, playing a crucial role in our ecosystems. Take a guided walk around the sanctuary and learn how to identify common types in the field while discussing the important things they can tell you about the air and the habitats around them. By slowing down and looking closely, you'll discover the incredible diversity of these unique organisms all around us, hiding in plain sight.
