Description
With one of the longest migrations of any North American bird, Common Nighthawks fly overhead in large flocks in late summer. Walk the sanctuary trails at dusk in search of these distinctive birds, recognizable by their erratic wingbeats and the bold white bar across each wing. A naturalist will share the science of nighthawk migration, their remarkable long-distance journey, and what their presence tells us about the habitats they depend on.
During the evening, keep an eye out for songbirds, ducks, and other wildlife active in the fading light.
