Description
As colorful leaves emerge in fall, so do the caterpillars! In early fall, many caterpillars wander about in search of places to overwinter. Guided by a naturalist, walk the sanctuary's trails in search of caterpillars like the iconic woolly bear. Learn how to find them, what they're eating, and what winged creatures they'll eventually become.
Finish by reading a storybook to tie the life cycle together and making a caterpillar-themed craft to take home. This turns an early autumn walk into a scavenger hunt, connecting young kids to the natural world.
