A Botany Year at Boston Nature Center: Spring
Description
This series at the Boston Nature Center follows plant life in the emerging spring season, from sap running in the maples to wildflowers and wild edibles.
March opens with maple sugaring and plant structure, looking at how a tree moves water and sugar through its body. Then you will hunt for spring ephemerals on the forest floor, embracing the fleeting blooms unique to this time of year. We'll close with wild edible plants and how to identify them safely.
Each session begins indoors before heading outside for at least 90 minutes of fieldwork on the sanctuary's trails, building real observation skills and connecting you with a community of curious fellow learners.
