Eagles, Water Birds, & More Along the Neponset River

Description

The Neponset River corridor packs a remarkable variety of habitats into a compact stretch of Milton shoreline, including marshes, woodlands, and open waterfront that attract an equally varied cast of birds in winter.

On this 2-mile walk, learn to identify birds by sight and sound. Look for American Black Ducks, Buffleheads, and Hooded Mergansers, down from Canada and the northern Atlantic coast for the season. Resident Bald Eagles patrol the river year-round and frequently turn up along the way.

All experience levels are welcome.

What To Expect

This program meets and takes place along the Neponset River Reservation in Milton, not at the Boston Nature Center. The 2-mile route is mostly flat and paved, with a few gentle inclines and some unpaved stretches near the landing. In the event of severe weather conditions, the program may be cancelled or postponed.

More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
